ΑΡΧΑΙΑ ΒΟΥΡΑ.

“BOURA AND ITS SURROUNDINGS
Boura, an ancient city of Aigialeia, east of
Helike, appears to have been located at the
Castle of Ano Diakopto according to E.
Meyer and other scholars. The identification
of Boura with the ancient remains at
this site emerges from the recent surface
survey of the the 6th Ephorate of
Antiquities of Patras.
Due to its location on the mountainous
hinterland of Aigialeia survived the
destruction of the earthquake of 373 B.C.
The visible remains (ancient buildings,
graves, surface pottery etc.) date from the
Geometric to the Byzantine periods and
occupy an area of 600.000 square metres.
Pausanias makes mention of its sanctuaries”.
